IT Refund likely to be delayed this Year : Special Report by Samir Gupta, District Head — Recently, two refund related issues made headlines. One was about income tax refunds surging Rs. 83008 crore in FY24 to 4.77 lakh crores in FY 25. Second was on the tax department’s nation wise crackdown on fake refund claims. Large scale misuse of deduction and exemption provisions has triggered a stringent scrutiny of claims, may cause delaying refunds even in genuine cases.
