Punjab losses 2600 crores as power thefts

Punjab losing 2600 crore annually as power thefts: Report Samir Gupta, City Chief — According to Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd, despite of 300 free units every month to domestic consumers in the state, there has been 30% rise in losses due to power theft. This amount stands as 2600 crores for the financial year 2023-24 an increase from about 2000 crores loss suffered a year before. Key hotspots of power thefts include the Tarn Taran circle consisting of four divisions , and the Ferozepur, suburban Amritsar, and Sangrur circles , consisting of three divisions each. These areas have been identified as major culprits of power thefts, the official statement by PSPCL added.
