PM Modi chairing 60th All India Conference of Directors General and Inspectors General of Police at Raipur in Chhattisgarh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is chairing the 60th All India Conference of Directors General and Inspectors General of Police in Chhattisgarh. The three-day conference began yesterday at the Indian Institute of Management in Nawa Raipur. Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the conference. He said the conference has been shaped as a portal of solutions to internal security, laying broad principles for strategising and policy making. Mr Shah said the country has achieved significant progress in the last 11 years in its operations against radicalisation, extremism, insurgency and narcotics.

Addressing the conference, Mr Shah reiterated the significance of the accuracy of intelligence, clarity of objectives, and synergy in action to shield the nation from new-age threats. He said the discussions held in this Conference would help in preparing a Roadmap for Policing towards Viksit Bharat. Union Home Minister also awarded Police Medals for Meritorious Service and trophies to the three best Police Stations in the country. This year, the theme of the conference is Viksit Bharat: Security Dimensions. The deliberations are focusing on developing next-level security frameworks to safeguard citizens against new-age challenges.

Detailed discussions are also being held on key national security issues, including Left-Wing Extremism, counter-terrorism, disaster management, women’s safety, and the use of forensic science and artificial intelligence in policing. During the conference, the Prime Minister will also present the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service. The conference is being attended by National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, the Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai, Directors General of Police from various States and Union Territories, as well as heads of Central Police Organisations.
